The Nyetimber bar: new for 2021 is the Nyetimber bar, which will be onsite throughout the Festival season and located near the Garden Deli. The bar will be serving a range of Nyetimber wines. Enjoy a glass of Nyetimber before a performance - the perfect way to start your day at Glyndebourne.
Afternoon Tea: when booking a pre-performance afternoon tea in Mildmay upgrade to include a glass of Nyetimber Cuvee Chérie Demi Sec MV - the ideal accompaniment to our afternoon tea.
Glyndebourne picnics: Nyetimber’s range of wines are available to pre-book online with a picnic or to purchase from the Picnic Hut pick-up point on arrival. Try the Classic Cuvee, the signature wine of Nyetimber, or perhaps the Nyetimber Rosé which pairs well with weightier picnic treats such as sausage rolls and British charcuterie.
Long bar and restaurants: Nyetimber will be available across all restaurants and at the Long bar throughout your visit.
The Nyetimber Estate is situated in West Chiltington, West Sussex and dates back to at least 1086, when it was recorded in the Domesday Book. In 1988, Nyetimber pioneered the style of English Sparkling Wine we know today by planting the first Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines in England purely for the production of traditional method sparkling wines. Over the years, Nyetimber has won countless awards and accolades at international tastings and competitions. Their Head Winemaker, Cherie Spriggs, was named 'Sparkling Winemaker of the Year' at the International Wine Challenge in 2018 – she was the first person outside of Champagne and the first-ever woman to be awarded this prestigious title.
Nyetimber sparkling wines are crafted using only the finest estate-grown, hand-picked grapes. Today they own 327 hectares of vineyards across 11 sites around West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent – all are south-facing, sheltered from the coastal weather and consist of greensand or chalk soils.
Classic Cuvee: The signature wine of Nyetimber, a perfect balance of elegance and intensity. The blend includes varieties from all of their vineyards and multiple vintages. Pairs particularly well with smoked salmon or an asparagus and goat’s cheese quiche.
Blanc de Blancs: Crafted from a single vintage and given extended time on lees, this pure expression of chardonnay was the first style ever produced at Nyetimber and marked the start of their pioneering journey. Perfect with white crab tart.
Rosé: A wine perfect for all seasons, Nyetimber Rosé is crafted from their three celebrated grape varieties but at its heart is a celebration of the fresh red fruit character of Pinot Noir.
Cuvee Chérie: The first of its kind launched in England, Nyetimber’s Cuvee Chérie demi-sec masterfully balances sweetness and acidity. The ideal accompaniment to afternoon tea or light, fruity desserts such as lemon posset or tarte Tatin.
